Guangzhou, formerly known as Canton, is a major city in southern China and the capital of Guangdong Province. Located on the Pearl River about 120 km northwest of Hong Kong, it is a key port and trading hub with a rich history in maritime commerce. Guangzhou is known for its Cantonese culture, vibrant street food scene, ancient temples, and modern skyscrapers. It is one of China’s largest and fastest-growing cities and hosts the famous Canton Fair, a massive international trade exhibition.
